Gut Permeability
Gut permeability, or leaky gut, occurs from chronic inflammation in the gut caused by numerous chronic conditions, such as food allergies or sensitivities, Celiac Disease, SIBO,IBS/ IBD and chronic stress. Symptoms can vary greatly from digestive abnormalities to fatigue, chronic pain and depression.
Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)
SIBO is an increase in the number of bacteria and/or changes in the types of bacteria present in the small intestine. The small intestine is the part of the gut where most digestion and nutrient absorption occurs. It is also an important part of the immune system, containing a large network of lymphoid cells that help fight infection. Dysregulation of this system causes GI symptoms, skin rashes and other inflammatory conditions leading to food allergies and sensitivities, autoimmune diseases, weight gain and heart disease.
The treatment for SIBO aims to repair the intestinal lining, ease inflammation, eliminate bacterial overgrowth, restore good bacteria and replenish the essential nutrients that your body has been unable to absorb.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
IBS is a constellation of symptoms, including cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, gas, diarrhea and constipation. Food, stress, hormonal changes and underlying disease are common causes of IBS. Treating the symptoms alone is unlikely to lead to long term control. We seek to find the underlying cause of the symptoms and create an individualized plan so that you will heal and remain symptom free.
Celiac Disease
Celiac disease is a genetic autoimmune disease. It is triggered by consuming a protein called gluten, which is found in wheat, barley and rye. When people with celiac disease eat foods containing gluten, their immune systems responds by damaging the small intestine to the point where it is unable to absorb nutrients into the bloodstream, which can lead to malnourishment. Some people with celiac disease have additional food sensitivities and are at risk for other autoimmune disorders. We help address a host of health issues stemming from celiac disease and gluten sensitivity and help you embrace a gluten free lifestyle.
