Inflammation

Inflammation is the body's natural response to an insult (injury, bacteria, virus, etc.) to promote healing. Acute inflammation is a normal and necessary process. Chronic inflammation results from failure to eliminate an offending agent because of continuous or repeated exposure. A poor diet, food sensitivities, stress, hormone imbalance, environmental toxins and sedentary lifestyle among other triggers all contribute to chronic inflammation and disease. Constant exposure results in a highly active immune system causing a continual stream of immune cells and hormones which ultimately damage tissues.

Taking a thorough medical, nutritional, social and emotional history will often point to an underlying cause of chronic inflammation. We will work to create a specific plan of action to evaluate and treat potential causes, which might include elimination and re-exposure, specific testing or a combination of both.
